Call for Expression of Interest–Local Youth Collective Impact Program, Ministry of Children and Youth Services

Deadline May 2, 2014

The Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) is launching an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to invite organizations – including collaboratives – to submit applications for funding to deliver the Local Youth Collective Impact (LYCI) Program across communities in Ontario. The LYCI program is a commitment of the Ontario’s Youth Action Plan, and supports Stepping Up: A Strategic Framework to Help Ontario’s Youth Succeed.

The government recognizes that there are many individuals, organizations (e.g. faith-based), businesses and cultural institutions in diverse sectors (social services, health, education) across Ontario who are involved in fostering youth wellbeing and specifically working to improve outcomes for youth who face multiple barriers. Collaboration between these diverse sectors is a key factor in achieving the desired impact and outcomes for youth. We understand that collaboration can be a challenge particularly, as partners come together across different sectors and different mandates.

Through the LYCI Program, the government will support collective impact across sectors in order to improve improved youth wellbeing. Supporting and developing better collaboration through the LYCI Program will serve as a catalyst to collectively drive change around key issues facing at-risk youth in their communities. The LYCI program will consist of two components to be delivered by the applicant:

The provision and dissemination of coaching, tools and resources for LYCIs to enable communities to strengthen partnerships and build collaboration across diverse sectors; and;
The delivery of a community projects granting initiative (i.e. targeted, one-time grants for community projects to help kick-start or accelerate cross-sector collaboration).
The government is inviting interested parties to submit an EOI application to deliver the LYCI program across Ontario. The application deadline is Friday, May 2, 2014 5:00pm (EST).
