Ontario Health Promotion E-Bulletin, OHPE Bulletin 340, Volume 2003, No. 340
This week, we have a feature article from the Volunteer Value Added Project. In "Valuing Volunteers in Healthcare Organizations," they write "A year 2000 survey by Statistics Canada estimates that volunteers contributed more than 1 billion hours of service to organizations across the country. However this contribution seldom finds its way into accounting statements or the formal record keeping of non-profit organizations. These data are perplexing because we know that volunteers are an important part of the labour force of non-profits and without their contributions there would have to be substantial service reductions."
If you have a resource or point of view to add to this article, let us know by writing to [email protected] More information on our Letters to the Editor column can be found in the OHPE News section of OHPE 268.0 (http://www.ohpe.ca/ebulletin/ViewAnnouncements.cfm?ISSUE_ID=268&startrow=1).
