Building Bridges: Promoting Women's and Children's Health Through Interdisciplinary Partnerships
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the IWCH Symposium. Our focus, on collaboration and broadening our perspective of what it means to build healthy lives and communities, promises to ignite the imagination and inform future work on and discussion of this underrepresented area of health care. Whether you are a seasoned veteran in the field, a budding student, or simply interested in what is going on, come and hear from those who continue to shape our ideas and discuss methods for improving health outcomes for women and children everywhere.
The 2008 conference will focus on promoting positive change through interdisciplinary approaches and includes a variety of lectures and workshops. Participants will have the opportunity to attend two keynote addresses, three workshops of their choice and the panel discussion. Our keynote speakers are Paula Donovan, Co-Director of AIDS-Free World and former United Nations Advisor, and Bridget Lynch, President of the International Confederation of Midwives. Other features of the conference include: a photo auction, where individuals can submit photos for a chance to have it featured in the Canadian Medical Association Journal or can bid on a favourite photo to make it their own; and the 1000 Peace Women Exhibit, which demonstrates the different ways women are building peace around the world.
