Webmaster, Health Nexus

For over 20 years Health Nexus (formerly the Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse) has been enabling communities to promote health-in Ontario and beyond. At little or no cost, we help organizations and individuals develop and implement prevention and health promotion strategies, which aim to enhance well-being and reduce demand on the health care and social service systems. Our three strategic areas of focus are: early child development, chronic disease prevention and health equity (inclusion).  At Health Nexus, we envision a future where health inequities are reduced and the health of our communities is improved through collective commitment, action and innovation.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with staff to ensure that Health Nexus's various websites, in English and French, reflect organizational mission and priorities, and are vibrant, current, user-friendly and accurate.

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the planning, design & implementation of website strategy
  • Communicate regularly with all programs to keep all content current and relevant;
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance to ensure content accuracy
  • Extract and adapt content for website use
  • Implement enhancements and modifications to the websites, including create and modify web pages
  • Administer and maintain security and access permissions
  • Establish reporting/tracking mechanisms; collect/ monitor website statistics; create reports on website usage and performance
  • Establish and maintain website task calendar, including security, maintenance, short-term & long-term development and improvements; schedule own work; documents procedures and development work
  • Keep abreast of internet technology, e-communications and related developments
  • Participate in IT user-support, trouble-shooting and be back-up to the Network Supervisor

Qualifications

  • a minimum of three years experience in web design, development and administration
  • proficient in web production procedures with:
    • technical knowledge of internet protocols, browser dependent features and security issues;
    • advanced proficiency with HTML (Dreamweaver) and JavaScript on Windows;
    • graphic design skills for web products;
  • prefer experience with PHP, MySQL and Adobe Photoshop
  • experience creating online event registration and coverage
  • excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task; strong attention to detail and good problem solving skills
  • demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively with IT savvy and IT hesitant colleagues
  • preference will be given to fluently bilingual candidates (English-French)
