The Weight of Evidence: Findings from the Continuing Care Research Project

2:00-3:30 p.m.

New Webinar Format!

What factors contribute to community and supportive housing clients entering long term care homes? What is the cost effectiveness of home care compared to long term facility care and supportive housing? Which home care and support services are instrumental in allowing people to remain at home and delay or avoid placement in a long term care home?

The Continuing Care Research Project, a joint project of Veterans Affairs Canada and the Government of Ontario (Ontario Seniors' Secretariat), set out to study these and other questions through a landmark, two-year study that compared the relative costs and outcomes of home care, supportive housing and long term facility care. The project also studied the role of home support services in keeping people in their communities and factors that lead people to enter long term care homes.
