The Board of Directors regrets to announce that the 2009 Atlantic Summer Institute is being postponed to August 17 - 20, 2010.
The decision to postpone the annual event, which draws participants
from around the Atlantic Region, the country and even internationally,
is a response to converging factors; the change of date for the
Institute--from August to June--to avoid conflicting with the Canada
Games, and the global recession. Both of these developments have
created challenges for fund-raising to support the 2009 ASI Institute.
We encourage you to consider attending 2 scheduled events that are going ahead as planned this June
- The ASI Foundations Curriculum workshop, June 2, http://www.thequaich.pe.ca
- Creating Resilient Communities into the 21st Century: A
Collective Think Tank, June 4, Slemon Park, Summerside. The Think Tank
is an activity planned in partnership with the Atlantic Coordinating
Committee on Crime Prevention, as part of the ACC annual conference: http://www.acc-cca.org.
We appreciate your enthusiasm for the Atlantic Summer Institute and
your understanding of our need to postpone for this year. We look
forward to seeing you in August 2010!
