Policy Development & Liaison
You will manage the development of major provincial policies and engagement strategies to promote healthy public policy and the government’s health promotion agenda and ensure linkages and integration of efforts with partners and key provincial stakeholders. You will develop and strengthen policy relationships with multiple internal and external partners and across sectors. You will also manage the ministry’s corporate function and required linkages and responses, including Cabinet Office, the offices of the minister and deputy minister, inter-governmental and federal/provincial/territorial relations requirements.
Additional qualifications: proven stakeholder engagement strategy expertise, knowledge and skills; understanding of government decision-making and policy development processes, policy, legislative and regulatory tools, and the life cycle management of policies/strategies; general understanding of provincial priorities for health and the health system in Ontario.
Strategic Development – Population Health
You will manage the development and evaluation of major health promotion strategies and policies that address key health promotion topics as they relate specifically to higher risk populations and specific groups (e.g., children and families in poverty, Aboriginals, mental health and addictions, seniors). You will also liaise with the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion, and manage the ministry’s monitoring, analysis, environmental scanning and assessment of a broad range of population health issues and results of evidence-based research that affects the development of policies and strategies.
Additional qualifications: demonstrated expertise in planning and managing multi-sector, multi-issues and multiple population large-scale strategy and policy projects though the life cycle management and approval processes; understanding of a range of population health issues affecting health promotion in Ontario; knowledge and application of evidence-based and applied research in policy development.
