Webinar on Diversity in Leadership
Diversity in leadership has a positive impact on productivity and prosperity. How well do our largest corporate, public and voluntary sector institutions measure up?
Recent research prepared by Ryerson University for the DiverseCity Counts initiative, found that only 13% of GTA leaders are visible
minorities - compared with 49.5% of the general population in the areas under study. The research also found that:
- Across sectors, the education sector came out on top with college boards showing the best results at 27%;
- The business sector trailed other sectors at the board and executive levels (3% and 5% respectively);
- Comparisons within sectors found significant differences. For example, only 10% of councilors are visible minorities in the five municipalities studied, compared with 23% of MPPs.
The report also identifies a number of strategies to increase diversity across sectors. You are invited to participate in an online
discussion with one of the reports authors, Dr. Wendy Cukier, Associate Dean, Ted Rogers School of Management & Founder, Diversity
Institute, Ryerson University.
