Kirkland And District Hospital, “An Equal Opportunity Employer,” invites applications for the position of a Full-time Dietitian/Diabetes Educator for the  Timiskaming Northern Diabetes Health Network Program

The city of Temiskaming Shores and the Town of Kirkland Lake are located in North-Eastern Ontario. Temiskaming Shores boasts a rich agricultural area and is located on scenic Lake Temiskaming, part of the Ottawa River Waterway. Kirkland Lake is located just off of Highway 11, about 1 hour north of Temiskaming Shores. The town owes its heritage to rich gold deposits. Sports enthusiasts will find a variety of activities in both communities including soccer, baseball, skiing, hockey, golf, curling, and tennis. Enjoy our sandy beaches, several playgrounds for children, beautiful parks and fish and canoe in one of the many lakes or ride on well groomed snowmobile trails. Both communities feature a Pool and Fitness Centre that offers aqua fitness, squash, various fitness classes and a weight room.

Successful applicants must be registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Applicants must also be eligible for membership with the Canadian Diabetes Association and be a candidate for certification with the CDA as a Certified Diabetes Educator. Previous experience in providing diabetes education and community health services is considered an asset.

The successful candidate must demonstrate professionalism, courteous approach with patients, staff and the public. Bilingualism in both official languages is considered an asset. Previous experience with computer applications is considered an important component for this position. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license as minimal travel is required in the South End of the Temiskaming District. Hours of work must be flexible to meet occasional workshops, meetings and conference schedules.
