The Association of Ontario Midwives (AOM) is seeking a Special Projects Consultant to provide content support during an exciting period of growth, challenge and opportunity for midwifery in Ontario. The AOM is committed to the expansion of the profession and to supporting midwives in providing optimal care that is responsive to the needs of women and newborns.
Working with the Policy and Professional Development teams, the Special Projects Consultant will assist with researching and writing related to health policy and professional development projects.
Responsibilities will include consulting midwives to develop workshops and educational programs on various clinical topics and topics relevant to professional development including leadership and conflict management. In addition, the Special Projects Consultant will work with AOM Committees and midwife consultants to develop resource documents for use by midwives around the province.
The ideal candidate must have experience as a midwife or be another health care professional in Ontario with obstetrical experience (eg. Obstetrical nurse) and have excellent research, critical appraisal, and writing skills. The ability to collect and collate information and feedback from several sources, the ability to effectively and constructively facilitate input and feedback from various groups, and the ability to work independently are key skills in this position. The ideal candidate will also have experience developing educational programs for health professionals.

This is a full-time, contract position ending March 31, 2010 with the possibility of renewal. The position offers a competitive salary.
