The Youth Gambling Awareness Program is back again for another year and presently booking presentations for the upcoming school year!
The YMCA Youth Gambling Awareness Program, which is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion, implements prevention and educational strategies to reduce the potential harm associated with youth gambling. We offer free workshops for youth ages 8-24, as well as parents, teachers, and other professionals. Our 1-hour workshops are developmentally specific and include interactive Macromedia Flash presentations.
Tackling the issue of Gambling would be an excellent fit for the healthy living component of a youth’s Physical Education, as this program aims to support youth to develop coping strategies to make informed decisions around the high- risk activities they face. Curriculum links are also found in Math (probability and statistics), Civics, and Social Science (media literacy).
