Maternity Leave Position

The Association of Ontario Midwives (AOM) is seeking a Policy Analyst (Maternity Leave Position) during an exciting period of growth, challenge and opportunity for midwifery in Ontario. The AOM is committed to the expansion of the midwifery profession and to supporting midwives in providing optimal care that is responsive to the needs of women and newborns.

The Policy Analyst will be responsible for providing research, analysis, reports and advocacy on various midwifery, maternal and newborn health and health care system issues. Working within the Policy and Communications team at the AOM, this position will work closely with midwives through active Committees and Work Groups. The ideal candidate requires excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex ideas and processes. She/he has excellent initiative and the capacity to work in a self-directed manner.

The successful candidate must demonstrate sound judgment, strategic thinking and have an understanding of policy development within an Association environment. She/he must have a thorough understanding of the role of midwives as primary care providers.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree and demonstrated achievement in research, analysis, policy development and advocacy. Experience with or knowledge of midwifery is an asset.

This is a one-year contract (maternity leave) position.
