Public Health Nurse – Tuberculosis Program, Region of Peel

Key responsibilities include:

  • Case Management of cases and contacts
  • Counseling/education
  • Providing under medical directives:
  • Providing and dispensing medications
  • Administering and reading of Tuberculin Skin Tests
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Liaising with other health professionals and agencies, e.g. physicians, hospitals, schools, long term care facilities
  • Developing educational support materials
  • Working with relevant computer information systems

Interested candidates should possess:

  • Experience in case management
  • Knowledge of communicable diseases
  • Knowledge of infection control practices
  • Experience administering tuberculin skin tests
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong assessment , counseling and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience in communicable disease investigation
  • An understanding of Peel’s diverse community
  • Ability to travel to various regional locations
  • Availability to work some evenings

Success also requires: a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or equivalent accreditation recognized by the Employer and a current certificate of competence as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Compensation: $60,870 - $72,990 and a comprehensive benefits package
Location: 44 Peel Centre Drive (Brampton)
Hours of work: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
