In this role you have responsibility for the quality standards for evidence-based reviews of economic information, and for ensuring that best practices in HE are applied in the development of our suite of products and services.  The Director will advance new ways of presenting economic information that ultimately lead to a positive impact within the health system.  You understand the health economics environment and promote CADTH’s profile by participating in national and international economic working groups.  You are knowledgeable about federal/provincial/territorial (F/P/T) matters, as well as national and international initiatives related to rapid response and the clinical/economic review and assessment of drugs and technologies.

The Director, HE fosters strong working relationships with colleagues across CADTH, and with drug plan and health ministry staff, strategic partners, health care professionals and consumers to fully understand and effectively respond to their needs. Most importantly, the Director leads a professional HE team and is committed to enhancing team members’ and CADTH’s HE expertise and capacity.

The Director, Health Economics requires understanding of the Canadian healthcare system and knowledge of the decision-making processes within the F/P/T’s and broad knowledge of research methods used in the development and application of health technology assessments. You bring a Masters degree in economics or a health-related discipline plus at least 8-10 years of health economics experience in the health care sector. Your previous experiences managing professional staff, developing new programs and establishing networks in the health care system are essential.

You bring in-depth understanding of microeconomic analysis, including experience in economic evaluations, budget impact analyses, and computer-based economic and statistical modeling. You are skillful applying your knowledge and experience with health technology and drug evaluation methodology and working with national experts in these fields. You’re a strong leader and a strategic planner. You plan for and meet deliverables, demonstrate sound reasoning, good judgment, flexibility and the ability to lead and facilitate change. You are trusted and credible and colleagues appreciate your collaborative style. You’ve been successful in part due to your exceptional communication skills and ability to thrive in a multi-stakeholder environment.  Experience working on a pan-Canadian program, and bilingualism would be additional assets.
