The Middlesex-London Health Unit, as the lead public health agency for the Smoke Free Ontario Strategy involving nine Health Units across Southwestern Ontario, invites applications for the Southwest Tobacco Control Area Network Manager (SW TCAN Manager) position.

Serving as one of seven regional Tobacco Area Network managers in the province, the SW TCAN Manager will coordinate the development and implementation of regional and provincial health promotion and tobacco control strategies related to the Ontario Tobacco Strategy’s Smoke-Free Ontario Campaign in collaboration with the nine Public Health Units in southwestern Ontario and the Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport. The successful candidate will provide leadership to assist in the delivery of a wide range of prevention, protection, and cessation programs and services under the Smoke Free Ontario Strategy in accordance with the Scopes of Services. Reporting to the Director of Environmental Health and Chronic Disease Prevention Services, the SW TCAN Manager will be a member of provincial planning tables convened by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport, and will organize regional monthly steering committee and sub-committee meetings to ensure the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of regional tobacco control programs in the areas of tobacco use prevention, youth engagement, tobacco cessation, protection and enforcement of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act.

The position requires a Masters Degree in Health Sciences, Education, or Administration and at least three years experience in management. Extensive knowledge of tobacco use legislation, prevention, and cessation, along with tobacco control policies and programs is also required. Requirements also include good computer skills, proven leadership ability, excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills. The ability to communicate in French or other languages would be considered an asset. This position involves work outside of normal business hours and regular travel between Health Units.
