The mission of OTRU (Ontario Tobacco Research Unit) is to undertake a program of research, development, and dissemination of knowledge about effective tobacco control programs and policies. This position is involved in the performance of highly complex functions related to the monitoring and evaluation of the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy (SFOS).
Reporting to the Director of Evaluation, the incumbent will be involved in the research and development of a performance indicator monitoring system and related data collection and analysis. This work and its related analyses will underpin the province's tobacco control activities and inform research addressing economic, health and other tobacco policy related questions.
Education: Masters degree or better in the health or social sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Three years experience with advanced statistical and analytical software, database design; knowledge of evaluation design and implementation, thorough knowledge of tobacco regulations and legislation, tobacco control programs, and tobacco control research.
Skills: PC in Windows environment; statistical, data management, project management, word-processing and presentation software; Internet and email.
Other: Ability to work independently and in concert with others in a fast-paced research environment; flexibility to work on multiple projects; demonstrated ability in project planning and design; exceptional writing and editing skills; familiarity with Internet; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; excellent data interpretation skills; highly developed organizational and time management skills.
