This three-part webinar series explores the foundational /introductory workplace health promotion knowledge shared within the online HP 102 course: http://www.thcu.ca/Workplace/hp102.
Both the online course and the webinar series focuses on the eight elements of a comprehensive framework for workplace health promotion. Participants will be required to be familiarize themselves with the online material relevant to the webinars/sessions they chose prior to participating in the webinar. Each webinar will cover two to three elements and provide opportunities for participants to discuss and explore practical examples of how to apply each element in practice.
Topics and Dates
Session 1: Getting Started
February 7, 2011 (9:30-11:30 a.m.)
In this session participants will review and critique the core theoretical concepts and definitions of a comprehensive approach to workplace health promotion. Building on a common understanding of "what it is" the session will explore the critical considerations when building a business case and seeking to build support with leadership, as well as the various tactics for building and sustaining a successful healthy workplace committee. (This webinar focuses and builds on the introductory chapter and elements one and two of the online HP 102 course.)
Session 2: Diagnosing and Strategizing
February 11, 2011 (9:30-11:30 a.m.)
Have you heard the expression "prescription without diagnosis is malpractice"? Well, it’s just as true for a health promotion strategy as it is for a medical emergency! Part 2 of the HP 102 webinar series explores the methods for diagnosis (situational assessments) and the critical conversations intermediaries should have when considering what role they will and will not play in helping their clients with diagnosing their workplace health promotion needs. The session will also review the high level interpretation of results and development of an over-arching multi-year healthy workplace strategy. (This webinar focuses and builds on elements three and four of the online HP 102 course.)
Session 3: Operationalizing
March 4, 2011 (9:30-11:30 a.m.)
Once you have a strategy it’s time to create action! Part 3 of the HP 102 webinar series focuses on reviewing and expanding upon key success criteria and best practices related to operational level planning, implementation and evaluation. The session will include some practical examples of approaches taken and programs used to achieve key objectives. (This webinar focuses and builds on elements five to eight of the online HP 102 course.)
