Job Purpose

This position will provide administrative and fundraising support to the Algoma & District Unit, related to their community fundraising inquiries, activities and events.   

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Functional Duties

  • Provides fundraising administrative support to the Algoma & District Unit staff.
  • Familiar with various accounting policies and procedures and ensure compliance with Society’s cash management practices (e.g. receipting, banking, etc.)
  • Responsible for assisting with administrative processes for 2 Relay For Life events, Daffodil and Residential campaigns and special events.
  • Responsible for data entry of volunteer and event participant information into Summit database, Rescan database; setting up and updating participant information into EMC database, and receipting through Summit for RFL events, special events, In Mem, etc.
  • Responsible for the coordination of records management for fundraising events
  • Assists with the collection, coordination and development of fundraising data and statistics and reports for the Algoma Units’ fundraising events.
  • Collates and prepares fundraising and event materials for distribution to communities and/or participants.
  • Provides logistical support for fundraising meetings within the Algoma area.
  • Other duties as assigned

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations. (Use or wear any protective equipment or devices required, Report any incidents, unsafe conditions or health and safety contraventions to your manager, and do not use equipment in any way that may endanger any worker or volunteer.)
  • Review and comply with the Canadian Cancer Society’s health & safety policy


  • Completion of related post-secondary education, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One or more years experience in fundraising, event planning, or accounting administrative support, preferably in a multi-level, non-profit  organization
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment and also have the ability to work independently
  • Strong knowledge base of accounting procedures
  • Strong ability to problem solve and reach sound resolutions
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills
  • Highly motivated and organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel) and databases
  • Knowledge of Canadian Cancer Society policies and procedures
  • A criminal records check is required.
  • Occasional travel within the Algoma area.
  • Non-smoker
