“Building a Psychologically Safe and Healthy Workplace”, York Region Community and Health Services’ Workplace Wellness Conference

The conference, "Building a Psychologically Safe and Healthy Workplace”, will focus on systemic and organizational factors that affect the mental health of employees, effective strategies to address them and how addressing these issues can improve compliance with the new provincial legislation around harassment and violence in the workplace (Bill 168).

The keynote speaker, Donna Hardaker, is a Workplace Mental Health Specialist at the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) where she is a consultant, master trainer and program developer for the award-winning, “Mental Health Works” program. This program focuses on helping organizations build psychologically safe workplaces and implement strategies and approaches to improve their awareness, communication and effectiveness in dealing with complex situations when an employee has or may have a disability of a mental illness. Her writings have been published in various mental health-related journals and magazines.
