Participants attending this workshop will learn how to counsel, encourage, and support smokers who want to quit and stay smoke-free. At this workshop, participants will learn to:
- describe and practice one-on-one counselling techniques for smoking cessation, emphasizing the four “A’s” (Ask, Advise, Assist, Arrange).
- practice counselling scenarios with clients at various stages of readiness to quit.
- review a Toolkit of various assessment and treatment tools that can help you and your clients develop a treatment plan, assess levels of addiction, and build motivation to quit.
Our workshops are free and geared toward Public health department staff, and staff and/or volunteers of community partner agencies.
Our workshops have a limited number of participants. Sign up early. Registrants will be placed on a waiting list once spots are filled.
