The Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) plays an important role within the healthcare system, delivering impartial evidence-based information, recommendations and advice that help decision-makers achieve value for money and improve health outcomes. We have an immediate opening for the position of:

Director HTA and Optimal Use

This position reports to our VP, Research Operations and is responsible for the development of assessments and optimal use products for drug and other health technologies, developed within the context of CADTH’s priority themes to address our customer’s needs.

The Director has responsibility for:

·         leading multidisciplinary teams of internal staff and external contractors in the development of health technology assessments and optimal use products;

·         ensuring a consistent and rigorous approach toconducting evidence-based reviews and final sign-off to health technology assessments and optimal use reports, recommendations, advice and tools; and,

·         ensuring the quality and timeliness of drug and health technology reviews that are provided to the Expert Committees/Panels.

The Director requires understanding of the Canadian healthcare system and knowledge of the Federal/Provincial/Territorial decision-making processes. Our candidate is knowledgeable about national and international initiatives and about research methods used in the development and application of health technology assessments and optimal use projects. 

The Director fosters relationships with a wide range of colleagues and representatives from drug plans, health ministries, industry, and partner HTA organizations as well as health care professionals and consumers to understand and respond to their needs. Similarly, the Director works collaboratively with CADTH counterparts to optimize the relevance and impact of HTA and Optimal Use products and services and achievement of the operational plan. 

You have a graduate degree in a health-related discipline or an undergraduate with a professional designation and 8-10+ years of relevant health sector experience. Your previous experiences managing professional staff, developing new programs and establishing networks in the health care system are essential. You have in-depth knowledge of research methods used in the development and application of health technology assessments and optimal use projects and have worked with national experts in these fields.

A strong customer service orientation and openness to new methods and processes define your approach. You are trusted and credible and colleagues appreciate your collaborative style. You’ve been successful in part due to your exceptional communication skills and ability to thrive in a multi-stakeholder environment where competing demands and hard deadlines are the norm.  Experience working on a pan-Canadian program, leading in a matrixed-organization and bilingualism would be additional assets.
