The Middlesex-London Health Unit has an exciting opportunity for a temporary full-time Registered Dietitian (ending July 2012) to work under the direction of the Manager of the Chronic Disease Prevention & Tobacco Control Team, within Environmental Health & Chronic Disease Prevention Services.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the planning, implementation and evaluation of community-based programs and services. Population health principles will be applied to develop resources and deliver programs on assigned topical areas. Duties include the delivery of nutrition services within the areas of counseling, consultation and education to the public and professionals in the community and within the Health Unit. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with community members, professionals and organizations to promote and implement healthy eating and nutrition, as well as selecting, developing, revising and evaluating nutrition education resources.
Qualified candidates will have completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university program in Foods and Nutrition or Human Ecology and completed an accredited internship with a community nutrition focus. Candidates must have current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario, along with knowledge and skills in health promotion strategies. Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills are necessary. Experience with Microsoft Office is essential. Flexible work hours are required, along with a valid Ontario driver’s licence and own reliable transportation. The ability to communicate in French and other languages would be considered an asset.
