Patient Safety in Mental Health: Shining a Light on Suicide

Toronto, Ontario
September 22 & 23, 2011

Patient suicide and the associated behaviours of attempted suicide and self-harm are among the most concerning patient safety incidents in the mental health sector. Persons with mental health disorders are at increased risk for death by suicide, relative to patients receiving other types of medical care.

The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) invite you to join your colleagues in Toronto to participate in a conference focused on suicide prevention, intervention, postvention and research. The conference will bring together an array of dynamic experts, clinicians, researchers, and public health professionals from both national and international stages. It will also feature an insightful selection of plenary sessions and poster presentations that will cover topics related to suicide.

As in previous years, posters highlighting innovative research and initiatives in quality patient safety in the mental health sector will be on display throughout the conference. To access the Call for Posters, visit http://www.oha.com/conferences.
