OPHEA Survey: Needs and Experiences of Working with Youth

Deadline: October 28, 2011

Ophea (http://www.ophea.net)  is in the early stages of executing a community-based initiative to help support secondary school educators across Ontario. With funding support from the Public Health Agency of Canada, we are hoping to increase Ophea’s knowledge and competency to develop relevant and accurate Ontario Health and Physical Education support resources for the Secondary school audience by drawing upon the collective expertise of partners from various sectors including, education, public health, sport and recreation, government, youth and the private sector to identify key learnings and knowledge sharing at a provincial and national level. The overall goal of the initiative is to help inform the broader support strategy for secondary educators across the province.

We would like to help our Regional Leaders representing 8 regions across the province make connections with professionals that work directly or indirectly with secondary students/ youth. The Regional Leaders would be interested in asking a few questions, either by telephone or by an online survey that would take approximately 10 minutes of your time to learn more about the needs and experiences of working with youth.

To name a few examples of individuals who may help influence Ophea’s assessment, professionals could include, principals, teachers, public health nurses, youth group leaders, social workers, Sports and Recreation, French language groups, youth minority groups, after school programs or individuals that have an influence on youth engagement programs.

If you or someone you know would be interested in participating in this exciting initiative, please reply or forward this email to your contacts to Sylvie Prevost (Sylvie@ophea.org) at your earliest convenience. In your reply, please include contact information such
as  name, email address or telephone number, title and organization.

The information gathering portion of the project will end on October 28, 2011.
