During this session participants will learn background information about the development of the opiate epidemic in Ontario and current strategies that are being used to combat this serious public health issue.  The following additional topics will be reviewed:

  • Why opiates are addictive
  • Risk factors for opiate addiction
  • Why individuals dependent on opiates cannot JUST STOP!
  • Treatment options for opiate dependence
  • Patient Testimony
