Health Services – Strategic Policy, Planning and Initiatives
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Policy and Projects, you will lead policy, research and advocacy work related to the health system. This work is directed by and delivered to the Region’s Health Services Leadership Team (HLT), which consists of the Commissioner of Health Services, Medical Officer of Health, Director and Chief of Paramedic Services, Director of Long Term Care, Director of Strategic Policy, Planning and Initiatives, Director of Internal Client Services and other senior leaders. Using an evidence-based approach, you will develop policy options and prepare reports, briefings and presentations for HLT, other leaders throughout the organization and Regional Council. It is envisioned that key focus areas will include planning for our aging population and assessing the role of paramedics in supporting care in the community.
Key to this role will be the development of partnerships and information exchange with other Regional departments and external partners/organizations/governments in providing recommendations regarding policy, relevant legislation and political priorities that influence policy and planning of programs and services currently delivered by the Health Services Department and the Region. You will sit on internal and external committees to facilitate research and monitor Regional Council directives and corporate/departmental/divisional initiatives. As well, you will network with policy staff throughout the Region and work with key stakeholders to maintain positive relations and increase early insight into emerging issues.
