The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) approved that the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN will take on the function of the North Simcoe Muskoka Diabetes Regional Coordination Centres (DRCCs) effective February 1, 2013.  The functions of the DRCC Program and the oversight of the Diabetes Education Programs (DEPs), aligns with the NSM LHIN’s Care Connections vision and, in particular, our efforts surrounding chronic disease prevention and management.

Primary Purpose

Contributes to the effective operation of the LHIN by providing administrative support to various portfolios; may provide support to a single principal or to more than one depending on the requirements.  The Administrative Assistant is an integral component of the Administrative Team which includes Program Assistants, Executive Assistants and the Director of Organizational Health.  Together, they ensure that LHIN management, portfolio and priority project needs are successfully met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide variety of administrative duties as required
  • Manages office logistics for meetings, including scheduling, minute taking, location, set up, catering requirements or teleconference and videoconference support
  • Prepares draft reports and documents
  • Researches and analyzes routing administrative projects; prepares first draft reports on routine administrative matters
  • Independently responds to letters and general correspondence of a routing nature
  • Coordinates and attends special events or projects as determined
  • Makes travel arrangements as required; maintains appointment schedules and calendars; arranges meetings and conferences
  • Coordinates educational materials as needed for outreach education, training and best practices
  • Supports  the development of program newsletters and communications for community partners
  • Participates in the  Administrative Team to ensure resources are effectively allocated  during periods of absence and peak workload
  • Initiates, plans and carries out a variety of special projects

Minimum Education

  • College diploma or equivalent work experience

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, with knowledge of processes and standards in health care environment
  • Proven experience in performing complex office administrative work requiring use of independent judgement
  • Exceptional time-management, planning and administrative skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Software (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and project management software an asset
  • Proficiency in both oral and written French and English
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team
