Rexdale Community Health Centre is currently seeking Full-Time Registered Nurse - Mental Health & Addiction

Rexdale Community Health Centre is a non-profit, multi-service centre providing primary health care, settlement and community development activities for women, families, youth, adults, and seniors of diverse cultures.  The Centre is committed to providing accessible and sustainable programs and services to diverse communities.  The Centre is currently seeking a full time Registered Nurse – Mental Health and Addiction.

Responsiblities:

  • Determine needs and provide evidence-based, individual care and therapy
  • Develop a plan of care and complete individual risk assessments
  • Prepare and participate in group and/or one-to-one therapy sessions, both individually and with other health professionals
  • Assist with the planning and development of mental health and addiction services for the Centre
  • Work with clients' families and caregivers to educate them and the client about their mental health
  • Responds to staff that requires mentorship, advice, education, and counsel on mental health concerns/ issues
  • Liaise with clients, relatives and other professionals in the community and attend regular meetings to review and monitor clients care
  • Ensure the correct treatment is carried out and monitor results of treatment
  • Provide support in cases of critical incidents for the community
  • Identify whether and when clients are at risk of harming themselves or others
  • Maintain and develop competence through appropriate continuing education methods         

Qualifications/Assets:    

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.)
  • Specialty in Mental Health and Addiction or equivalent experience
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario with professional liability insurance
  • Experience working as a Registered Nurse in a community setting is an asset
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record, e.g. NOD, Purkinji is an asset
  • Knowledge of Personal Health Information Privacy Act, Consent of Information / Records of Information and Medical Records Management
  • Proficient with computer software including MS Office, Internet and email
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the health issues of a diverse community
  • Sound knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical incident and crisis intervention skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, and be flexible and organized
  • Must be able to provide criminal record check clearance
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Knowledge of the Rexdale community
  • Ability to speak a second language (e.g. Spanish, Punjabi, and Somali) will be an asset.

Salary: $55,251 to $66,568 plus excellent benefits (salary range depends on experience)   
Hours: 35 hours per week (flexible hours)
Status: non-unionized position
