The Healthy Sexuality Program requires an innovative, self-directed and enthusiastic individual to work within a collaborative team environment to deliver services in accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards. You will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team focusing on health promotion and harm reduction strategies, which includes the Peel Works Needle Exchange Program (NEP). You will be required to operate the mobile NEP van. Key responsibilities include participating in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion initiatives in order to effectively meet the Ontario Public Health Standards. You will provide recommendations based on research, analysis of data and results related to program planning. Utilizing an Evidence Informed Decision Making approach, you will provide consultation and report writing regarding the programs and best practices. To meet program objectives, you will also develop educational, outreach and health promotional materials, targeted to populations including youth, the injection drug using community, young offenders/youth in minimum security correctional facilities and health professionals. You will provide education and group facilitation as well as build and maintain community linkages and partnerships through networks, coalitions and act as a consultant to the community. This challenging position also offers the opportunity to perform under medical directives within a variety of outreach programs and community/healthy sexuality clinic settings. Duties include: STI & HIV testing - specimen collection and taking blood; providing injections, providing/dispensing medications; case management of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS and counselling clients regarding birth control methods, pregnancy options and STI/HIV prevention.
