Public Health Nurses, Best Beginnings Program Team, Middlesex-London Health Unit

The Middlesex-London Health Unit is currently seeking temporary full-time Public Health Nurses for a six month assignment to work on the Best Beginnings Program Teams within Family Health Services.
Public Health Nurses on the Best Beginnings teams provide home visits with prenatal and postnatal populations regarding a number of issues such as growth and development, nutrition, postpartum depression, and woman abuse. In addition, the work of Best Beginnings includes a broad spectrum of services addressing issues related to the social determinants of health with a focus on vulnerable populations. This includes direct services within family and women’s shelters, parenting promotion groups using Triple P strategies and advocacy, and policy development in community identified areas such as poverty and transportation. This multidisciplinary team of Public Health Nurses, Family Home Visitors, Social Worker, and Program Assistant collaborate with a variety of community agencies and professionals in Middlesex-London and Provincially.

Candidates must have a B.Sc.N. and current CNO registration. A valid Ontario driver’s licence and own transportation is required. Preferred qualifications include: experience with home visiting and working with vulnerable families; knowledge of prenatal and postnatal assessment, follow-up, and family service plans; and experience working with multiple community agencies and multicultural populations. The ability to communicate in French and other languages would be considered an asset.
