Volunteer Opportunity, Pride 2013, Canadian Cancer Society

Toronto, Ontario
No deadline noted

The Canadian Cancer Society will be at Pride 2013, and we need YOU to make it a star studded event! We will be hosting a booth to endorse our new program called Screening Saves Lives: Promoting Cancer Screening in LGBTQ Communities.

The theme for our booth is all about The Movies! The booth will be set up like a red carpet event, where passersby can take pictures on a red carpet with velvet rope and a film festival backdrop. Pride goers can play dress up with items in our tickle trunk for their photo shoot, and then download their pictures from our website.

Who: Enthusiastic LGBTQ positive volunteers, who are interested in starting up conversations about breast, cervical and colon cancer screening with LGBTQ communities.

What: Promote the Screening Saves Lives program and screening for breast, cervical and colon cancers with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities. You will be speaking with crowds, sharing cancer screening messages, letting people know about our website, handing out postcards, taking pictures and handing out consent forms to those who have their photo taken.

Where: Outside, under a tent in the Church and Wellesley neighborhood.

When: Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30. Shifts are four hours long and run from either 10:30am – 2:30pm or 2:30pm – 6:30pm on both days. You are welcome to take on more than one shift.

Training and a meal will be provided. It promises to be an exciting and fun event!
