McMaster University’s School of Nursing in collaboration with Hamilton Public Health Services and multiple community stakeholders, is responsible for managing a two year project (ending March 31, 2014), the CASTLE (Creating Access to Screening and Training in the Living Environment) project, within the McMaster School of Nursing.

Project Objectives include:

  • Building capacity of community partners through the establishment of CASTLE network Increasing cancer screening awareness through development of a multi-component intervention strategy that will include: Skill development and training and a priority neighbourhood directed communication and social media component.
  • Increasing uptake of cancer screening among low income housing communities through a “phased in” implementation.
  • Disseminating an innovative model via the CASTLE toolkit for replication and sustainability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the CASTLE Network; supporting regional leads and community health brokers and volunteers from 6 geographical project regions; for monitoring the program budget, ensuring project deliverables are completed in a timely manner and overseeing social marketing activities.
