Organization & Program Description

For Youth initiative strives to build healthy communities by supporting underserved racialized youth ages 13-24 living in low-income neighbourhoods to access opportunities that will allow them to flourish and thrive in the city of Toronto. The Sector Capacity Building Department at FYI stems from the priorities determined in FYI’s  2013 Strategic Plan. FYI intends to be a thought leader around youth leadership and increasing youth safety. We do so through research, program evaluation, and building a strong network with which we collaborate and share information. Our sector capacity development programs play an important role in the development of youth leaders in Toronto and the building of a stronger network of youth leaders and youth supporters.

Position Summary

The Sector Capacity Building Lead will develop, revise, and facilitate monthly workshops to youth-led and youth-driven initiatives working in the Greater Toronto Area to support said participants through one-on-one follow-ups to develop their working efficiency and impact.  Furthermore, the Lead will ensure that each workshop is evaluated and feedback incorporated into future workshops.  The Lead will also support the development and amassing of content for online toolkits that capture and/or complement FYI’s sector capacity building workshops.  The Lead will coordinate supports for FYI’s Administrative Support Program, which hosts youth-led groups that work to support their peers in the community.  Lastly, the Lead will support the development the Administrative Support Program, including structures and systems that will guide how FYI administers these supports.
