Facilitation Skills for Evaluators Two-day Workshop Series, Intersol

Although both days are tailored to the field of evaluation, Day 1 will continue to focus on core facilitation practices, skills and processes, with the new Day 2 focusing on more advanced application of facilitation tools and techniques, along with opportunities for facilitation practice and feedback. Led by Jennifer Birch-Jones, an experienced evaluator and facilitator, and her colleague Judy Kent, a world-renown facilitator, can be taken either as a single day workshop, or together, with the new Day 2 workshop of particular interest to past participants.

Day 1: Introduction to Facilitation Skills, Knowledge and Processes

This workshop is specifically designed for evaluators working in the government and not-for-profit sectors who would like to enhance their core facilitation competencies. Participants will learn how to plan, manage and lead effective and efficient facilitated small and large group discussions, meetings and processes that are tailored to evaluation practice. A wide range of tools, techniques and tips will be covered, with opportunities for participants to share and get feedback on facilitation situations they face in their evaluation work.

Day 2:  Facilitation in Action - Application and Challenges

This workshop is specifically designed for evaluators with some facilitation experience working in the government or not-for-profit sectors who would like to enhance their facilitation competencies.  Using a case study approach, participants will have the opportunity to design, facilitate and receive feedback from their peers and the workshop leaders. In addition, participants will learn how to effectively manage dysfunction in group meetings or discussions. Special topics will also be covered based on pre-workshop input by participants, and there will also be opportunities for participants to share and get feedback on specific facilitation challenges or assignments they are facing in their work.
