Canada Walks is pleased to partner with HC Link to announce the winners of the first WALK Friendly Ontario designation awards at the Linking for Healthy Communities: Collaborating for Change conference. These awards will recognize municipal excellence in walkability by awarding an Honourable Mention, Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum designation to towns and cities that are working to make their communities safer and more enjoyable places to walk.
WALK Friendly Ontario is a recognition program that encourages municipalities to create and improve spaces and places to walk. The program gives walking a prominent profile in community planning and design, and encourages municipal governments to set targets for ongoing improvements. As communities strive to achieve higher awards, the built environment is transformed to support safe, sustainable and independent mobility. WALK Friendly Ontario is a project of Canada Walks and is funded by the Government of Ontario.
HC Link’s 2013 provincial conference theme is “Creating community change...by engaging our communities, working in partnership and fostering environments and conditions that support health.” For conference information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or visit HC Link's website: http://www.hclinkontario.ca/.
Be there to congratulate the first cohort of WALK Friendly Communities!
