National Safe Driving Week Impaired Driving - Does Canada Measure Up?

Impaired driving continues to be a serious social and health problem which impacts all Canadians. During the 44th annual National Safe Driving Week (December 1 - 7, 1998), the Canada Safety Council (CSC) is drawing attention to the important issues surrounding impaired driving by asking, Impaired Driving - Does Canada Measure Up?

The Canada Safety Council believes Canadians have to re-examine whether current systems, penalties and countermeasures are adequate and realistic for dealing with the impaired driving problem. Canadians need to continue to assess the situation in Canada as it relates to the successes being experienced in some jurisdictions and other countries.
