Register by Jan 21

The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE/UT) Transformative Learning Centre (TLC) in collaboration with the Centre for Health Promotion, University of Toronto, and the Women's Network on Health and the Environment (WNH&E) due to popular demand is again offering the TLC OISE/UT certificate course:

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH, TRANSFORMATIVE LEARNING and POLICY CHANGE

EDUCATION FOR SOCIAL AND ECOSYSTEM HEALING

at OISE/UT, Room 7- 162, 252 Bloor Street West, Toronto, Ontario, January 25 - April 11, 2000, Tuesdays, 6pm-9pm. Course Director: Dorothy Goldin Rosenberg, PhD, MES.

This course focuses on exploring these links between health and the environment in the context of popular education and transformative learning in formal and non formal settings. It does so by helping participants to develop critical thinking, investigative, analytical and practical skills to better understand the constraints of scientific certainty and uncertainty in today's complex world in order to advocate for lifestyle as well as public policy changes. The issues are framed within the broad socio-environmental perspectives on health promotion reflected in the goals of the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion-strengthening community action, developing personal skills, creating supportive environments, helping in skills development to educate, enable, mediate and advocate.

Cost $375.00. (Limited scholarships available for students, seniors, under & unwaged). (Should students wish to credit this course as a field work or reading course in an academic program, prior consultation with your academic advisor is necessary on the feasibility of applying your final paper toward that program.)
