Welcoming and Celebrating Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity in Families: From Preconception to Preschool, Best Start

This interactive workshop is for service providers who work with young children, with parents of young children, or who have the opportunity to influence the health and development of young children.
Based on the new resource Welcoming and Celebrating Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity in Families from the Best Start Resource Centre, the workshop addressed issues for those working with families from preconception to preschool.

Learning objectives

  • Learn how service providers can make their programs for families, parents and children, into spaces that honour and celebrate this diversity.
  • Reflect on personal and organizational beliefs about LGBTQ+ individuals and willingly challenge these beliefs in order to be an LGBTQ+ positive professional.
  • Learn successful strategies and best practices to build an organizational commitment for LGBTQ+ inclusivity.

Registration will start at 8:30 am and the workshop will end at 4:00 pm.
