February 19 & 20, 2015

Who Should Attend

These two workshops, each of which can be taken on its own or combined as two days, are specifically designed for those working in evaluation, performance measurement and program management in the government or not-for-profit sectors who want to better understand the core concepts and best practices in developing logic models, theories of change, and their accompanying performance measurement strategy.

This workshop will be led by Jennifer Birch-Jones, Senior Consultant, Facilitator and Trainer at the Intersol Group.

Overview of Day One: Introduction to Logic Models & Theories of Change

By the end of day one, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how logic models and theories of change are used in program planning, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Identify the key components of a logic model and theory of change, the relative benefits and limitations in their use, and the wide range of formats available
  • Determine the key steps in their development, including the range of approaches possible, and
  • Understand emerging best practices and lessons learned, and where to find additional resources
  • Using a case study approach and interactive exercises and discussions, participants will have the opportunity to apply the theory learned and share their own experiences with developing logic models and theories of change.

Fees for Day 1: $495 + applicable sales tax

The workshop fees include a workshop materials, a certificate of completion, as well as a continental breakfast, refreshments, and lunch.

This workshop can be taken alone or in conjunction with Day 2.

Overview of Day Two: Introduction to Performance Measurement

  • Describe how performance measurement links to logic models, theories of change, monitoring and evaluation
  • identify the key components of a performance measurement strategy, including the program profile, the logic model, the performance measurement framework and the evaluation strategy
  • Determine the key elements in a performance measurement framework, with a particular emphasis on developing performance indicators, and
  • Understand emerging best practices and lessons learned, and where to find additional resources
  • Using a case study approach and interactive exercises and discussions, participants will have the opportunity to apply the theory learned and share their own experiences with developing and implementing performance measurement strategies.

Fees for Day 2: $495 + applicable sales tax
