Davenport Perth Neighbourhood and Community Health Centre (DPNCHC) is a non-profit neighbourhood and community health centre located in the West Central area of Toronto in the Davenport Riding. We offer a range of services that include: primary health care, programs for adults, seniors, children and youth, settlement services, literacy programs and job search workshops for newcomers. Our mission states that DPNCHC helps people in our neighbourhood, especially those who face economic and/or social barriers, to achieve a state of physical, mental and social well-being.
The Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood and Community Health Centre is currently recruiting board members who are able to attend monthly board meetings and participate on a board subcommittee. Board members will have an opportunity to contribute to the welfare of the communities we serve, develop valuable skills, and help improve lives. Candidates with expertise in board development, or experience running fundraising events, are of interest, but also those with skills in:
- Financial management
- Policy development
- Human Resources
- Community development
- Primary Care
- Strong strategic thinking skills
- Knowledge of Davenport West community
We have spots available for both associate (outside our catchment area see below) and community board members who live within the following boundaries:
- Bloor Street to the south
- The CN/CP rail tracks to the west
- Rowntree, Morrison Aves and St. Clair Ave West to the north
- Bathurst St to the east
We are especially seeking individuals who represent under-serviced populations, reflect the racial/ethnic diversity of the community, and individuals who have played leadership roles in local community groups or organizations. Some of the predominant populations that we serve are Spanish speaking, Portuguese speaking, and Afro-Caribbean clients. We are especially seeking members who have an understanding of and an interest in representing the cultural needs of these groups. DPNCHC also encourages applications from candidates whose background is diverse in terms of culture, race, language, religion, class, gender/sexual orientation and ability.
