Following the success of last year’s inaugural Medical Psychiatry Alliance Conference, we hope you will join us at the 2015 Medical Psychiatry Alliance Annual Conference: Integration and Complexity in Medical Professional Education, taking place on
The Medical Psychiatry Alliance (MPA), the first-of-its-kind in Canada, is a $60 million collaborative partnership whose goal is to transform mental health care. Supported by The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), The Hospital for Sick Children, Trillium Health Partners (THP) and the University of Toronto (U of T) and in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and an extraordinarily generous donor, the MPA is dedicated to transforming the delivery of mental health services for patients who suffer with combined physical and mental illnesses. In Ontario alone, 1.3 million people suffer from co-morbid physical and mental health illness. In many cases, treatment of these patients fails because our health care system is designed to focus on either physical or mental illness but not both at the same time.
This year’s annual conference will bring together Canadian and international experts across the spectrum of health care in an effort to identify the best education models that will equip health professionals with the resources and knowledge they need to affect better outcomes for these patients. Public health nurses, nurse practitioners, labour delivery registered nurses, midwives, social workers, as well as any health professionals interested in improving mental health outcomes, are invited to attend.
