"MBA" [More, Better Approach] Youth Sport/Recreation Symposium

The Provincial Consortium on Youth in Recreation would like to invite you to attend The "MBA" Youth Sport/Recreation Symposium to be held on February 23-24, 2001 at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre, Barrie, Ontario. The Symposium is designed for those who are in postitions to influence the introduction or expansion of sport and recreation programs and services for youth (ages 14-19).



The guest speaker will be Dr. Peter Witt, Texas A&M University who will

address The Changing Youth Development Services Paradigm.



Other highlights:

Program Models: Caledon, Hanover, Ottawa-Carleton, Sioux Lookout,

Whitechurch-Stouffville, Toronto

The program models include: Youth Outreach Workers; Youth Drop In Centre; Skateboard Parks (mobile and permanent); Graffiti Arts; Outdoor Adventure for Girls; Youth Basketball; Youth Helpline, and; Youth Council. These presentations will help answer the often asked question "if we like this concept/approach, how do we actually get it going?"

Take It Back - Planning Local Change - how to create a "ripple effect" of learning whereby you, as a participant, then present the information after returning to your local community



The Symposium is designed for those who are in positions to influence the introduction or expansion of sport and recreation programs and services for youth (ages 14 to 19) $200 covers all handout resource materials, meals and accommodation for the event (based on double occupancy) - limited travel subsidies may be available to those travelling a distance greater than 200 kms (one way) Registration deadline is February 21st
