Wage Range: 2016: $51.78/hr ($94,239/yr.) to $64.72/hr ($117,790/yr.)

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing leadership in the establishment of  culture of excellence in professional practices for nurses and all other regulated and unregulated public health professions ensuring inter-professional collaboration and learning. Supports and promotes organizational effectiveness, strategic planning and decision making across the health unit through evidence-based services and quality health outcomes.  Plans, directs, organizes, and evaluates professional and support staff in the Foundational Standards division as an integral part of the health unit.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing and membership in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario; Master’s degree in public health, health informatics, health research methodology, nursing or other related discipline pertinent to the job functions; minimum of 10 years of nursing experience with progressive leadership responsibilities including a significant level of experience in community/public health; demonstrates the following corporate competencies: Excellence, Accountability, Innovation, Integrity and Teamwork; knowledge of relevant computer software; Strong knowledge of public health principles, the Ontario Public Health Standards, professional standards for nursing and other disciplines, and current legislation impacting on programming; excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

a. Advanced knowledge and critical thinking skills related to the public health sciences and technical knowledge

b. Formulates broad strategies on multi-dimensional strategic issues

c. Guides others in policy and program development including conducting risk assessments and the management of incidents such as outbreaks, and other emergencies of public health importance.

d. Facilitates partnerships

e. Supports diversity within the division and community

f. Communicates complex messages

g. Empowers team members

h. Inspires others through ethical leadership
