Health Promotion Consultant Services

Consultation services are required to create a policy development plan that will remove barriers and make it easier for families and communities to raise healthy children. The focus of the project will be improving children’s health through physical activity and healthy eating, and will take into account the social determinants of health, the built, natural and social environments.

The details of the RFP are as follows:

Deadline for Submissions: March 22 @ 4:00 p.m.

Purpose of Project: Identify specific and actionable policy options for rural communities in south east Grey County that will support the development of healthy children in healthy communities over the next 3 years and beyond.

Key Outcomes:             

  1. Identify, collect and summarize key policy actions that will support developing healthy kids in healthy communities across the three partnering municipalities.
  2. Key policy actions identified will be based on best and promising practices in rural communities and align with the local policy context, including the policy work established to date by Public Health and other policy bodies working toward healthier communities, for example:
    • Health in All Policies
    • Healthy Food Choices & Tap Water in Recreation Settings (Grey Bruce Health Unit, 2015)
    • Healthy Kids and Youth: It’s time for collaborative action (Grey Bruce Health Unit, 2015)
    • Complete Streets Policy & Implementation Guide (Grey Bruce Health Unit, 2015)
  3. Conduct a situational assessment of the existing policies that support healthy communities, within the identified three municipalities, in order to:
    • Set a baseline of health supporting policies for evaluation purposes
    • Identify areas of strength and opportunity for health supportive policies
  4. Prepare a report that clearly identifies specific policies that local municipalities can implement to create healthier communities. Identified local policy actions should describe:
    • the level of resources (human, financial, partnership, and otherwise) that will be required for development, implementation and management
    • Both short term and long term policy changes
  5. Work with local partners to develop a communication strategy and tools to share the findings of this project

Location of Work:

Consultant will be required to communicate regularly with the project lead throughout the duration of the project. Travel within southeast Grey County will be required to fulfill the deliverables. Office Space is not available at the South East Grey Community Health Centre.

  • Curriculum vitae and cover letter summarizing achievements, qualifications, and understanding of the project
  • Detailed budget, work plan ideas, and timelines
  • The successful candidate must be available to being this project immediately.

Selection Criteria: 50% price, 30% experience, 20% references
