Summary of Job:

The Support Services Assistant will work with all members of the Support Services team at Prostate Cancer Canada to further the health promotion and survivorship work of the organization. The Assistant will have the opportunity to implement and further develop health promotion, communication and research skills. The Support Services Assistant will also have the opportunity, with the support of the survivorship team, to participate on an innovative national survivorship project. The role is critical in supporting our objective of developing and communicating health education resources and programs for men with prostate cancer and their circles of care across the country.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach to clinicians, stakeholders and organizations to promote and disseminate health education resources for patients and caregivers
  • Assist in implementing health promotion communication strategies for health resources and services
  • Conduct research in health promotion, including literature review of best practices
  • Conduct data analysis on patient use of health promotion materials and programs
  • Research evaluation tools/mechanisms for health education programs
  • Assist in developing promotions of survivorship projects
  • Collect and collate various reports for survivorship projects
  • Exploring and reviewing national survivorship project content
  • Provide assistance to Research, Health Promotion, and Survivorship team as needed

Specific Requirements:

  • Senior student in post-secondary education preferably in health sciences
  • Candidate must have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the coming academic year
  • Health promotion, communication and research skills and/or experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and creatively about health education and outreach
  • Competence with MS Office
  • Bilingualism (English-French) is an asset
  • Position is based in the Toronto office
