Position: Epidemiologist (Competition #2016-58)
Location: Public Health and Emergency Services Department (Public Health)
Employment Status: Permanent Full-Time

Wage Rate: 2015 rates: $37.02 - $44.06/hr.
The Epidemiologist leads Public Health in the planning, organization, implementation and analysis of epidemiological studies and surveillance data that are utilized for program planning and evaluation, applied research, outbreak management and development of health status and other reports and knowledge products.
Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, Health Research Methodology or equivalent; minimum of one year of public health practice, with a role involving quantitative research methodologies and working with large administrative databases; advanced skills in the application of epidemiological and statistical methods in the study of communicable and non-communicable diseases; experience using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, SPSS) and familiarity using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and other software packages currently used to collect, analyze, report and visualize epidemiological data in Ontario; experience with relevant public health information systems such as Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN), Integrated Public Health Information System (IPHIS) and IntelliHEALTH would be an asset; excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with strong facilitation, project management and organizational skills; priority setting, time management and creative problem solving abilities; sound knowledge of current public health issues, legislation, and how to apply epidemiological concepts; ability to work in a high pressure, team environment, respond to competing priorities, build collaborative partnerships, integrate public health programs and knowledge and deliver results through excellent customer service; ability to work flexible hours (occasional evenings and weekends) when necessary.
