The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has released an app that provides instant access, on mobile devices, to useful workplace health and safety advice and information.
The OSH Answers app serves up the Centre’s collection of online fact sheets that is available on the CCOHS website, and which contains thousands of questions and answers on almost 600 topics related to the health and well-being of workers - from workplace stress and chemical safety, to ergonomics and seasonal safety tips.
With the help of the mobile app, users can access OSH Answers offline, in remote areas and job sites, or where wireless connectivity is absent or unreliable. The app is essentially a virtual safety pocket guide.
The app is available for free on CCOHS’ website (at http://www.ccohs.ca/products/oshanswers_app/), in the Apple App Store as well as Google Play for Android devices, with a web-based version available at http://www.ccohs.ca/oshanswers.
- OSH Answers fact sheets are presented in an easy-to-read question-and-answer format.
- Topics are based on questions that the Centre’s Inquiries Service has received from workers, health and safety committee members, employers, safety professionals, health care professionals, government officials, and the general public over the years.
- OSH Answers fact sheets are one of CCOHS’ most popular public services reaching 7.3 million unique users last year.
- OSH Answers fact sheets are bilingual and are written for workers, managers, supervisors, and joint health and safety committee members who are the end users of the information in the workplace.
