Position: Senior Network Administrator – Information Technology Services - Management/Non-Union
Hours of Work: Permanent – Full-Time – 35 Hours Per Week (1.00 FTE)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology & Building and Maintenance, the Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the network architecture and operations, telecommunications infrastructure design and development, network support and services, technology integration, and network capacity planning for voice, data, and video communications. The Senior Network Administrator provides service that is consistent with the mission, vision, values, objectives, policies and standards of the Board of Health. The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the installation, support, usage and maintenance of the organizational network, and plans for and responds to service outages and other infrastructure issues.


Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science
  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer Certification
  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • VMware Certified Professional
  • ITIL working knowledge and certification
  • Minimum of 5 years recent related work experience
  • Advanced experience with core software applications, including network and PC operating systems
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise-level LAN and WAN
  • Demonstrated experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices
  • Demonstrated experience with devices such as hubs, switches, and routers
  • Excellent technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and Internet standards
  • Strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and legislation
  • Knowledge of VolP/IP telephone systems, software and hardware
  • Knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption

  • Ability to escalate problems (when required) to the appropriate senior staff
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required
  • Ability to function independently and/or in a team environment
  • Self- motivated and directed with a keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement
  • Demonstrated reliability and the ability to work flex hours as required
  • Requires a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check: recent, within four (4) months at their expense and will be required to comply with the Health Unit’s immunization policies. Annual Salary: Minimum $61,603 to Maximum $72,475
