Violence Against Latin-American Women in the New Millennium, Seminar Series

1. October 11, 2002, Historical and Cultural Analysis of the situation of Women in the Latin - American context.

2. December 06, 2002, Reality and Myths of Violence against Women and Children in the New Millennium.



The October and December events are located at 340 College Street, Suite 500 (Spadina and College)



3. February 21, 2003, Migration and Adaptation in Canada

4. April 25, 2003, Strategies for Interventions and Prevention in the New Millennium.



The location of the February and April sessions will be confirmed.



Goal: To facilitate the development of skills and appropriate attitudes in order to provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the safety of women and children who are victims of violence in our community.



Who Should Attend: This training is directed to a range of front-line workers, including counsellors, support workers, advocates, crisis line workers, shelter workers, health practitioners, child care workers, volunteers and others who come into contact or work with with Spanish-speaking women and children who have experienced violence. The training will also be of interest to students currently enrolled in a related degree or diploma program.



* The training will be delivered in Spanish.

* A certificate will be issued to participants upon the completion of the 4 training seminars.

* Limits subsidies are available for volunteers



Registration Fee per Seminar and Series: Individual Rate $ 40.00, Students: $20.00, Series of 4 seminars $120.00, Group of 3 or more people from the same agency $100.00, Series after September 23 $140.00
