Available on Request--Legal Capability Workshops, Community Legal Education Ontario

CLEO now offers free workshops for community workers on how to help clients find good legal information.

This 3-hour workshop:

  • helps you decide if there’s a legal aspect to your client’s problem
  • directs you to accurate and reliable sources of legal information
  • explains the difference between legal information and legal advice
  • helps you make good referrals when your clients need legal advice

Who is the training for?

The workshop is designed for community workers across Ontario, including:

  • social workers and counsellors
  • settlement workers
  • healthcare professionals
  • library staff
  • employment counsellors
  • housing and shelter workers
  • violence against women workers
  • credit counsellors

Where are the workshops held?

CLEO staff is available to travel across Ontario to offer workshops in your community. We also offer webinars if we are unable to travel to you.

How many people can attend?

We need at least 20 people and no more than 30. If you don’t have 20 people, we will work with you to find other organizations in your area who are interested to join in the training.

What’s the format?

The workshop is interactive and includes hands-on exercises that will be customized for each group. If 3 hours is too long, we will try to adapt the workshop to meet the needs of your group.

How to plan a workshop?
